STRUCTURE FIRE(s): Please Confirm, unless “Multiple Calls” have been reported, Fires should be confirmed for proper address and size up. If a 2nd or 3rd alarm is broadcast, a page should contain only the address and upgrade of status.
SWAT: Only Street Name, No Address or identifying Information should be given.
(Example: Buffalo – SWAT Team Units are on Lovejoy St with a Emergency Operation in Progress)
(Example: Buffalo SWAT is on the scene of an incident near (Major Street Name), not using actual address)
MOTOR VEH ACCIDENTS: Please Give Nearest Address possible and/or intersection. Include Injuries or Property Damage Only. Personal Info or Plate Numbers Never Given Out. If Fatal, give as good as information that makes its point without disrespect to the deceased or Violating HIPPA Laws.
(Obviously if it’s trauma accident and/or fatalities, never give graphic info).
MERCY FLIGHT REQUESTS: If Possible, give info as to why Mercy Flight is responding. For Safety of general public and first responders, I’d say leave out landing locations.
EXAMPLE: Mercy flight is responding to a request from Orchard Park Fire for a fall in Chestnut Ridge Park.
SHOOTINGS OR STABBINGS: Give address, how many victims, suspect description if available. EXAMPLE: Amherst Police at scene of Stabbing at 123 Elm St, one victim
FLOODING OR ROAD CLOSURES: Give name of road, closest intersection, or address and brief description. Also, if road is closed from where to where.
EXAMPLE: Town of Tonawanda Police have Sheridan Dr. Closed from Belmont to Colvin due to flooding.
ALERT 1, 2, OR 3: Give location as BNIA and information regarding the aircraft landing and info available. Number of passengers is not necessary, but can be posted if known. *Please Include the Airport ALERT # (1,2 or 3)
EXAMPLE: BNIA Fire/Rescue standing by for an incoming plane with electrical issues, smoke in cockpit.)
DOMESTICS: We do not broadcast domestic calls. If a call escalates into a verified serious situation, we can give the street, no house numbers and a very brief description.
EXAMPLE: Cheektowaga Police are on the scene of a Domestic on Rosary Blvd, serious injuries reported.
ROAD CLOSURES AND TRAFFIC INCIDENTS: If you are aware of a serious traffic delay due to road conditions or road work, give the best possible location and cross streets. Also, if you know how long the delay will be in place.
EXAMPLE: Town of Hamburg, Camp Rd and Southwestern Blvd. Company is painting road markings in the area and traffic delayed for the next 2 hours.

MISSION STATEMENT: ErieCoBlotter is a volunteer organization of individuals who are avid supporters of Public Safety. We monitor radio transmissions and submit information for the public dissemination. Our members utilize radio scanners, as with intel from official police sources as with listening to multiple agencies and frequencies in a manner that is to inform, and not to interfere or deter Public Safety from their mission.
ErieCoBlotter does not encourage, but vigorously discourages anyone from "chasing calls”, taking photos without permission From ErieCoBlotter Admins AND Scene Command, interfering with scene operations, radio or verbal communications. Photos may be submitted but must be taken at a safe distance and within Legal Public Property, and if possible, permission of First Responders. We do not take and/or post photos of victims at ANY scene.
Erie County Blotter does have formal ID cards issues by the New York State Sheriff's Association clearly marked "PRESS" for Official identification. We consider such items necessary and display of any such items MUST be on display at any and all scenes for identification to law enforcement personnel. any other form of identification other than that displaying the words Erie County Blotter is considered false and/or unapproved idenification and is considered. to be Criminal Impersonation, and we will assist Law Enforcement in such a situation.
ErieCoBlotter does produce vehicle emblems and other items strictly for public promotion of our site and organization.
ErieCoBlotter may have access to special frequencies used by agencies, but will not publish them on our site or share them in any manner as to protect First Responders and respect their privacy in serious situations.
ErieCoBlotter at times may offer items for sale (ie, car emblems, shirts, hats, etc). ALL funds collected are immediately given to a public safety organization as a donation. All equipment and items used by members are purchased out of their own money and/or Private Funding.
Please be aware that Erie County Blotter Does at All Times cooperate with local law enforcement during any and all investigations. Any and All Information, that is given and/or forwarded to us will be immediately handed over to the proper law enforcement entity. however you can remain anonymous with us and we will do whatever is needed to protect your identity if so needed.
